Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra looks just like the S22 Ultra

Recently, the floodgates opened for the Samsung Galaxy S23 family with renders from the Galaxy S23 and S23+. Today, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the star of the show. Next year’s Samsung Galaxy Ultra, the highest-end non-foldable smartphone, will look exactly like its predecessor. It’s hard to see the Ultra in these renders.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra leaked renders

Yet, it isn’t. While the main three camera circles ‘islands” seem to protrude a little more in the S23 Ultra than the two other, the others are visible less. The front is also a little flatter. As the Ultra is as boxy as a Note, the radius of the curves was further tightened.

That’s it, though. These are the main differences between them – and they aren’t obvious unless you really look. The S23 Ultra measures 163.4 x 78.1x 8.8mm, while the S22 Ultra measures 163.3×77.9x 8.9mm.

The Galaxy S23+ and S23+ will adopt the split camera islands look. Next year’s Samsung family members will finally appear like they are part of the same family. They also look very similar to many A-series models, which is a good thing. This clearly cements this design language for Samsung.

It is interesting that a $1,200+ device and a $200 device of the same brand share a design language. This compromises the exclusivity of the high-end in exchange for greater recognizability. It is not clear if the tradeoff was worth it.

Rumours have suggested that the Galaxy S23 family could be announced in January, a few weeks before the S22 models. We’ll be able to learn a lot more about S23 models at a faster pace than leaks.
